You will soon be able to edit and delete your WhatsApp messages 

WhatsApp appears to be trialling the new feature in its iPhone beta software, according to an image posted on Twitter by@WABetaInfo.

A screenshot of the new feature was posted along with the words: 'WhatsApp is starting to work on editing messages#whatsappbeta'.

This suggests that the feature is initially disabled and that users of the beta software currently have to find and activate it for themselves. 

When users hold and press on a message, the new update is said to present them with two options - 'Edit' or 'Revoke'

The first will enable the user to update the content of their message, while the second will enable them to recall it completely. 

Imagine all the messages you sent to the wrong person, or sent something you did not want to to the right person. Revoking, or even just editing, will solve that problem and save you some trouble.

This update has been made available only to a few iOS users, through their beta version. On selecting a specific message, you can see options of revoking, editing, copying and delete the message. Of course, the caveat for recalling the message is that it should not have been read by the receiver.

This option is not enabled by default, and you cannot edit any messages before this update lands on your smartphone. The feature is similar to recalling unread emails and was long due by WhatsApp.
